The final day of racing could not have been better. The Admiral found the right button on the control panel, because right on cue, the wind arrived — a perfect 8 knots out of the east, oscillating just enough to keep everyone honest (or at least guessing).
It was a picture-perfect afternoon for the last hurrah of the season. Mike generously surrendered his keel to Mary, freeing himself up to fully commit to Anna’s superb chili, while Jonathan spent most of the day being strategically fouled to keep his win percentage in check — or so the rest of us tell ourselves.
A special thanks goes out to Richard for bringing the fresh veggies, Anna for her spread of chili varieties that warmed us all, and Mike for topping things off with his homemade brownies that disappeared faster than a boat in irons.
We wrapped up with good laughs, full stomachs, and a few final complaints — the perfect end to another great season. Even though the results are set, the friendships (and the teasing) continue long after the sails come down.
Season Summary
After eighteen weeks of light air, weeds, rescues, missing rudders, and enough stories to fill a logbook, the 2025 racing season comes to a close with Jonathan once again claiming the title of Head Honcho — winning both the current series and the Overall Series
Through all the laughter, rescues, and questionable mark roundings, it’s been another great season of sailing, storytelling, and snacks. The Admiral thanks everyone for making it a year worth remembering — and looks forward to another round of racing, ribbing, and rivalry next season.
