Letter from the Chair - August 2025

Sue Raymond | Published on 8/5/2025

As August rolls around we are starting to look forward to the end of the season. It seems that time passes way too quickly and I hope that you have had the opportunity to enjoy all the club has to offer. Socially we have the Italian Night happy hour coming up August 9th and there are still a lot of other social activities going on.  The big sailing events for everyone are the Ring of Fire Race and the Labor Day handicap. Please take advantage of our beautiful facilities.

As the summer winds down and more people are enjoying the facilities, we need to think about those around us and the impact our actions have on them. CYC has established some policies to help us think of others but sometimes common sense and an awareness of what’s going on around us dictates what should be done. Here are a few reminders to help you:

  • Do not park on the waterfront blacktop except to unload/load your car.  Shark Park parking is for catamaran tow vehicles only and handicap parking is allowed in the picnic area.
  • The beach IS NOT a launching area (unless it is closed specifically for regatta purposes). It is for swimming only and it would be a shame to lose our permit. Boats (including kayaks, canoes, paddle boards), jet skis, etc. are to be launched only from the floating ramp, the hoists, or the south ramp.
  • Pets must be on a leash in order to be on club property.  Pets are NOT permitted in the clubhouse, in the picnic area or on the beach.  If your pet needs to cool off, use the south ramp.
  • Only camping units that are in use may be left in the camping area.

By observing these few rules and using some common sense, everyone can enjoy a stress free and safe CYC.

Reservations are greatly appreciated and ensure that you can be served when you would like. If you are interested in attending trivia, please make a reservation and let the staff know whether you are eating or not.

Our ClubExpress Web Platform will be going live on August 11th.  Watch for additional information regarding your new log-in, including tips and support to get you going!

Make plans now to enjoy one of the scheduled racing events or social activities and/or just come down to enjoy the Club, the view and to relax. See you soon.
