CYC has a new manager! John Stevens has accepted the position and we are happy to welcome him to CYC. John has been the Banquet Manager at Woodcliff Hotel and Spa for the past four years. As the Banquet Manager he was responsible for all aspects of event coordination and dealt with multiple disciplines including culinary, reservations, florists and confectioners as well as outside vendors and entertainment.
Prior to his position at Woodcliff, he served as the Food and Beverage Director of the Sheraton Four Points Riverside Hotel (now the Clarion Riverside Hotel). While there he served as VIP Concierge and Press Liaison for the hotel for noted personalities such as Joe Torre, Christina Aguilera, Dan Marino and Dr. Ruth Westheimer. He says that while he has had the privilege of being involved with a lot of celebrities, including, along with those already mentioned, Robert Redford, Willie Nelson, Ivana Trump, Jim Kelly, Kathy Wentworth and Sgt. Slaughter, he doesn’t have any of their phone numbers and he doubts that any of them would remember who he is.
Earlier in his career, John was an Assistant Manager at Midvale Country Club and later was chosen as Club Manager at Penfield Country Club, a position previously held by Charlie. He says that although his background is in country clubs, he’s a terrible golfer and adds that he can say the same about his sailing skills.
John lives in Fairport with his wife Marilyn and 20 yr. old son, Kirk. Marilyn taught in the primary school in East Irondequoit and retired in June. Kirk is presently in the audition stage of applying to college for Theater Arts. The Stevens have two other sons. Alex followed in his dad’s footsteps and is the Food and Beverage Manager at Rolling Rock Country Club in Pennsylvania. John, the eldest son, and his wife Heather have given John and Marilyn their “two precious” granddaughter’s, Hannah and Grace.
Please welcome John to CYC. We are sure that under his management CYC will continue to be known as a fine dining and sailing facility.
